Reclaimed Timber Lighting: Why Every Piece Is Different

What to consider when choosing a lamp made from timber with its own grain, marks and colour.

Look for character, not identical grain.

Reclaimed timber can vary in tone, grain and surface marks. In a lamp, that variation becomes part of the visible design. A product image helps you choose the silhouette; it cannot promise an identical pattern on the next piece.

Compare the finish with your room.

A darker finish can give the timber and black metalwork a more unified appearance. A lighter finish makes the contrast between wood and metal more visible. Compare your furniture, wall colours and the available natural light before choosing.

Measure the whole piece.

The base width, overall height and projection of the bulb all matter. Mark out the approximate footprint on your intended surface and leave space for the cable and safe bulb clearance.

Ask before ordering.

If a particular colour or surface detail is important, explain it in your enquiry and ask what can be confirmed for your piece. Do not assume that reclaimed timber from different orders will be a matching set.
